"You cannot watch someone killing himself without doing anything. If someone has a knife and wants to kill himself. You will do anything to stop him. Drugs is the same thing. It is just a longer process "

The purpose of an intervention is to bring the individual to understanding that he needs treatment for his addiction.

In time we have come to notice that self-destructive behaviors are something we have studied and observed in connection to drug and alcohol addictions. In which an intervention is most necessary for the individual. The significant intention of a Drug /Alcohol intervention is to provide the individual support from the anguish and distress caused by the use of the substance. Generally the addict will become familiar with the seriousness of his drug abuse problem and usually come to an understanding. The impact of his addiction reflects as well on his family and friends whom surround him.

The main reasons and intentions for drug and alcohol Intervention are to recognize the nature and extent of the addiction and to focus on the level of available treatments and Interventions.  To comprehend the effectiveness of the available addiction treatments and intervention that is meant to lessen the dependence of the substance.  Understanding more about the effectiveness which our programs and suitability for the addict.  Increase community awareness for the addicts and to educate them about the successful addiction treatments and other intervention programs ready available for them.

In understanding the importance and significance of intervention can create a difference between it being a great success or great disappointment. While it seems that it would be very apparent to have this comprehension, the addict and/or the family will require in understanding just how immense this simple fact can play in creating a successful drug intervention. Creating a situation without any knowledge will leave everyone and especially the addict emotionally vulnerable and will create a volatile situation. The principle of a drug intervention is not only to aid the addict but to be willing to accept assistance and to build a healthy support system. This means saving the life of the addict as well as saving the loved ones from added pain and destruction. The significance of this action is to constantly encourage your loved one or friend to remain in treatment. It is about creating an environment that will help keep your loved one sober once they have completed treatment. As we stated, you can intervene to save a life.
